FAQ's
FAQ's
-
- Is Beat Global Heat organizing each event?
- No. People who have decided to host a concert independently organize their event much as they would organize a private party at their home. Beat Global Heat is providing the inspiration for the Backyard Festival as well as support tools such as this web site and climate campaign materials that event organizers can distribute at their concerts.
-
- Can I make my Backyard Festival a private event?
- Yes, when you register your event you can indicate that it is full. In that case, people will not be able to RSVP online.
-
- If my event is private do I still need to display my address on the map?
- No. The purpose of the map is not only to help people to find your event but to provide a visual display of public participation in the Backyard Festival. If your event is private you can select a general address on the map when registering (e.g. a park near your venue or a street intersection). This way the map will display your participation while keeping your address hidden from the public.
-
- Can there be other types of performance art during my Backyard Festival, such as dance, poetry readings, etc.?
- Yes, of course, but the Backyard Festival must also include live music.
-
- How long should my event be?
- Approximately two hours. See the download, Festival Planning Guide, for suggestions on how to program your event.
-
- What time on Saturday, July 26th should my event take place?
- Your event can take place anytime during the day or evening. It’s up to you.
-
- Can I organize more than one concert?
- Yes, you can program more than one concert on Saturday, July 26th. You will need to register each event that you host.
-
- What is the climate action component of the Backyard Festival?
- Each host will receive postcards, which you will distribute to audience members during the event. The postcards are addressed to provincial and/or federal representatives and are in support of carbon taxes. We will provide you with speaking notes to help you introduce the campaign and the postcard action to your audience members. The postcard campaign is an integral part of the project. In signing up to host an event, you agree to support the campaign.
